Some of my personal experiences

I know how it feels and how hard it is because i speak from my personal experiences with depression, self harm, previous suicide attempts and i used to be a cutter for about a year, i completely understand how hard it is to stop once you've become addicted to it. it's like becoming addicted to smoking or alcohol that's how hard it is to stop self harming.
I actually only stopped cutting like last month and i'm hoping to never start again.
so please. try and stop before you become addicted!
if you think it's hard to get help now, wait until the day you cut to deep, you have to go to hospital, then everyone will know that you cut yourself, you will have to explain to the doctors what had happened.
so try and get help as soon as possible
I know and understand that it's a scary to try and get help, that it's a scary thing to talk about, but just try your hardest to tell a counsellor, or a friend or trusted adult.

ways to help yourself

  1. if you are having difficulty getting to sleep, try doing some meditation, deep breathing exercises, try writing down your problems, or call a hotline to talk to someone
  2. Try hard and not stay in bed all day, always try and get up in the morning, go to school or work or do some things around the house or do something with friends just try hard to keep active
  3. if you start to feel suicidal, try and call a 24 hour hotline, just do not give up!
  4.   Do things that you enjoy doing it can be anything, just as long as you're trying to keep yourself busy
  5. The most important thing is when you're trying to help yourself - always try and talk to someone about your problems NEVER keep your feelings/problems bottled up inside you, otherwise that'll just make you feel even worse.

Helping others with depression/self harm

  • Talk to the person that is depressed or self harming
  • Try to always be there for them whenever they need someone to talk to
  • Try hard not to give up on them that will just make them feel even worse
  • Spend lots of time with them and keep on letting them know that you care, love them and that you understand them
  • Encourage them to talk to a counsellor or doctor or a trusted adult
  • Sometimes a person with depression may just need someone to listen, care for them and to give them a hug
  • It is very important to not ignore them
  • Try and stay calm when you are talking to someone with depression try to be fair with them, offer them support

what is self harm?

self harm is - when a person try's to hurt themselves but they don't do it for attention !
some people may do it to deal with the pain they're going through at the time because they don't know any others ways to control the pain that they're feeling.
most people self harm because it's a simple cry for help they want someone to help them, but they just don't know how to ask for it so they self harm instead, they normally don't tell anyone that they self harm and but secretly at the same time they want someone to know and they want someone to save them, to help them!
so if you know someone that is self harming - try to help them! or try and get them help before they become addicted to it.
